Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor hasn’t been in the industry for too long. But in her 3 film career she has made her way into Bollywood’s style icon list, being up against the likes of Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif we would say that this is quite an achievement. Unlike other leading actresses who are going all out to fit into size zero Sonam embraces her toned body, something that caught the eye of the fashion world ever since her debut.
The film “Aisha” which was released last year saw Sonam’s style come alive with a little helping hand from Indian fashion designer Ayesha Depala who is known for her feminine chic styles. We also see Sonam in gorgeous garments made by luxury designers – Christian Dior, Chanel, DvF and Ferragamo, who are usually hard to get a hold of to style for Bollywood films.
Sonam’s style icon title doesn’t just stop there. She has recently featured on the covers of many well known fashion magazines – Vogue (India), Elle, Verve and Hapers Baazar.
When asked about how she feels to be Bollywood’s style icon the actress said “It feels great and am very happy that it did well in India, after all its just about girls wanna have fun!”. Also stating a very long list of designers she feels has inspired her from Chanel, John Galliano, Christain Dior, Alexander Mc Queen, Sabyasachi Mukherjee to new designers like Masaba and Kallol Datta. “I feel the Indian fashion industry is growing, we should just explore more new and fresh talent.”
